Gemini II HC bug on Titan 50 mont

I have a Losmandy Titan 50 mount with Gemini II control.

Lately, the RA is a tad slow in Sidereal tracking and last night, when I touched the right side RA button of the HC, the RA motor made a 'jamming' sound. So I disconnected RA cable from t he main Gemini II control panel and it still made a beep sound when I pressed the right side RA button.
The motor is not jammed nor lack of input voltage.

Anyone hot any idea what is or could be, causing this problem with their Gemini II HC?

Jim

The only thing that I can think of is can you connect up to a computer with USB and drive the mount around with that and see if it does the same, it should either point to your motor or the hand controller.?

Hi David,

Thanks for your input.

Gemini II works via ASCOM on a PC or with the Gemini II HC itself. The cable is Ethernet back to the PC.

When the ASCOm virtual HC is invoked, the right side RA button 'beeps' in the Gemini II HC itself. There is no movement in any of the 4 directions. It could be a blown chip in the HC, I don't know, but until I get it fixed, the mount is dead.

I have emailed Tom Hilton - the creator of Gemini II software and Scott Losmamdy for an answer.

Back in the early 80;s when Losmandy was making those mounts, they all had to have some GOTo functionality, sos Tom Hilton waded in wth his Gemini I and tII programs the rest is history. Personally, I hate this software, but until I get this Hc fixed, I have a useless paperweight. It wings a 11" RASA.

The beep is coming from the main board not the HC. I will pack the board and HC and send it back to Losmandy.

OK fair enough then continue to beat your head against a wall until it makes sense. I seem to be doing so well in that department currently

LOL..... that makes two of us.

The last time this unit went back to HGM, was the m/board would not comm to the motors. Seems its was a bad CB. So they gave me a new board (which is what I have now going back) and now this.

Do you use the Gem II from a PC or laptop?

What astro program do you use for GOTO? I use the Sky X and ASCOM for the Titan 50.
