Saturn - 2/3/2007

Last night was a lot of broken fast moving cloud. There were large enough gaps to show some visitors the moon and Saturn. Anyway I was in the mood to attach the camera to the dob and snap some Saturn images.

I wanted to try ppmcentre but I found out it doesn't work with images bigger than 640 x 480. So I resized down to 640 x 480, centred in ppmcentre and stacked in Registax 4.

This is a stack 30 images of 1/4 sec exposure....
<SIGH> One day I'll get a webcam.

Good on you Middy; that image is just fine.

You were a lot more patient than I last night. Personally, I was cheesed off that we had had such a relatively clear day that, come sun down, clouded over. I got my low power bino's out with the racing cloud, but didn't think it worthwhile pulling my newt and EQ5 out...setting up...just to cloud-dodge.

Mind you, Saturn and the moon looked good together...as your image of the planet shows.

Congrats on the patience and the result. Which part of Brisbane are you in?
