This was another object chased at Qld Astrofest later each evening as the Milky Way started to get low. I thought about hiding this on in the cellar, but finishing it rubbed my nose in a few cardinal sins I shall endeavour to never repeat:
- thou shalt not leave data on the hard drive from last year without cal data or flats

- thou shalt always check the camera is not on fast download mode when collecting that data

- thou shalt stretch images hard from time to time behind the heavy red filter, but only in between beers

- even when you think you have enough RGB data on faint galaxies, still collect a bit more.....
This is such a prettty galaxy, but diffuse and somewhat faint. Thought I had data for a decent rendition with the Ha regions highlighted, but think its bettered me again. Much of the RGB data was from last year and discovered too late very poorly collected/calibrated (terrible column artifacts).
Abell 102 galaxy cluser visible at about 2 o'clock position out from the galaxy.
No full size image on this one - we shall not speak of it!
