Jupiter 17th Feb

The seeing was not that great, maybe 5/10, but I wanted to image this morning and catch the GRS transit.

It was entertaining last night watching a large thunderstorm about 10k south of where I was set up - cloud to ground lightning strikes every few seconds for about an hour... I was watching nervously in case I had to pack up and hide...

Here's a composite of three images - due to the size (1200 pixels across) I'll give a link to the image. It's about 100k in size.

Scope: http://www.acquerra.com.au/astro/lexx.html
capture details: 45 seconds each of R,G,B @ 35fps

cheers, bird

Excellent series, Anthony! Gee they'd be stunning if the seeing was better - you can see the potential.

Great stuff.

Good stuff, Anthony.

Yeah. Those lightning strikes were pretty impressive last night.

They appeared to the NW of us, which would have been as you say to the S of you.

Wouldn't have been the best night for a get-together with the seeing also being so naff.

Excellent work there Anthony. A lot of interesting stuff to see, not to mention the more local electrical disturbances!

Cheers

Dennis
