Lots of passing coastal cloud last night so decided to image a cluster which only need a mediocre amount of data
The Southern Butterfly was also opposite the moon so my OTA would be partially sheltered from the moonshine
30 x 2 minute dithered subs ( had to delete about 10 due to cloud )
15 x darks
ISO 800
Stacked in DSS
Processed in Startools which did a great job cleaning up the image
Guiding was really good 0.80 to 0.99 arc sec error ( my best numbers so far with the new rig ) considering passing cloud and stopping and starting guiding every 10 or 15 minutes
2 images posted original and cropped version
In the original version there’s a really unusual star configuration at the centre top of the image , looks like a snake ?
Cheers

Yes I’m a beginner, only been imaging for 18 months. Started with visual astronomy in 2016, used the iPhone in my old 10” dob, then progressed to a 6” f6 newt on HEQ5 with DSLR and remote shutter button standing next to the mount for a year, now fully set up with my 8” f5 and EQ6-R Mount and all the necessary Astro software

I forgot to mention I’m recently retired and was a part owner / operator of a medium sized national electrical engineering and contracting business, so I guess my technical background ( nearly 40 years in the industry ) has helped me along a bit with this amazing hobby
