2007 the year and the future - just what is your goal?
I have had the opportunity to get some very schmik gear in the last few months, and a very unhealthy bank balance. I love astroimaging, and as a result I managed to purchae a G11 and I have now committed to getting my 350D modified to a true astro cooled camera. with a new scope soon to be delivered, and the future, well I am looking forward to it. Now I just have to learn how to use the gear, I can see a ver yfast learning curve coming up
My goal - well for the SPSP, probably a comet image and a few widefields to get the gist of the gear, for Qld astrofest, anything glowing I can get to image
SO I look forward to what the future brings

My aims this year are to get a wedge and go equatorial (the dark side beckons) and a laptop so I dont have cables hanging out of the window and I'm not running in and out of the house all the time.
Cheers

More and better planetary imaging with my 12" newt and EQ6.. especially with Jupiter. I'm anticipating some very good results from downunder.
I also have a hope (not a plan, yet) to get an ED80 and do some DSO stuff with my 350D, or at the very least, some widefield stuff with my 350D tracking on the EQ6.

My main goal is to be here this time next year.
Dreams come true when you write then down and rember how to eat an elephant..a little bit at a time.
I would like to sit in Sydney whilst I image thru my gear at Tabulam.
Once it was an impossible dream but now even with my limited resources it draws closer.. not really worried if it happens and am pretty laid back but its funny how things lob at my feet to make it happen.
But most of all to see all those who form part of my reality be happy and have their dreams come true .

2007.
I've already started working on my goals.
1. Get tracking. - Done that by building the Haig mount.
2. Get it mounted properly (nick off the tripod and get it on a pier). - In the process of this, the shovel is actually sticking out of the earth at ground zero, waiting for the rain to ease.
3. Start taking some wide field long exposures. - the camera is loaded with film, waiting for the clouds to clear.
4. Build some form of permanent Observatory. - need to earn some cash first for that one. A job is in the pipeline though.
It's only February, so bring this thread up again in 10 months and see how fare we've gone.

Might be a while. It's going to be a hard, long learning curve, cause you can't see your mistakes till you've processed the filums.

I cant recall how many times I set up my gear for imaging through 06 and was confounded by the weather, its really dented my enthusiasm and reminded me how much Ive neglected the simple pleasure of visual astronomy/ stargazing. So for 07 the log book will be dusted off the star maps unfurled and be ready for some star hopping {with GOTO used as a last resort }.

My main goal is to get my observatory up and running complete with roll off roof, properly polar align the scope with the EQ6 and set it up for imaging with the Canon 400D I am also going to get. I would also like to be able to Autoguide with the EQ6 and have the EQ MOD working to greater accuracy.

To play with my new 20" scope (when it finally arrives) for as many nights as it is clear.
I am particularly looking forward to hunting down some galaxy clusters as a new object type with the help of bigger aperture.

to add at least 25 Messier and Caldwell objects to my ETX 70 list;
M1, Rosette, Centaurus Cluster, Markarian's chain and NGC 3199 with my ED 80
if not in 2007 maybe by mid 2008?
