Filter Information

Hi to all,
I recently have purchased a small set of 2" filters. They came at a good price and not any technical advice.
My only experience was with 1.25 filter that I would describe as light grey. This I understood to be for viewing the Moon. It did work well in enhancing my view of the moon. I would describe this set as Grey, Blue, Orange and Red. I am seeking some advice on what the other colours are best applied to, ie Stars, Clusters, Nebulas etc. Any information would be appreciated.
Best Regards Larry Brockman
