Hi,
have used one that was fitted to a borrowed DSI color. Was the standard non water cooled version. Was very effective and lowered temp to 5 degC even on a hot night. Didn't really need to go lower as noise was pretty low at this point. Would be a very worthwhile purchase for a DSI 11, but the original DSI was limited in exposure by amp glow anyway, so not as much benefit here.
Hi Mark, I have been adapting and testing a fan from an old computer on my DSI II. The cradle that hold the fan clips over almost perfectly and connects to battery.
While not even close to being as effective as the coolers, it is good for knocking around 5º of the top on a hot night.
Every little bit helps.
Mark.. Richard Smith (D i c..k) smith electronics has a car cooler for $25 or $30. You have a peltie device and fan connected to a cig lighter power connector ..great value. I have tested the cooler up home (I have two one to pre cool the camera and one on the scope using most of the original box to cool it on the scope). They cool easily to 5 degrees and you will notice the difference in noise . Get one pull it apart and see how you can set it up..lots of fun.
alex(generally the temp in the "normal"setion of a frige strangely.)
