Eagle via Startools

Old data thru eight inch F5 Nikon D5500 about an hour of 30 second subs 1600 iso unguided HEQ5 mount dark location
.
I have been trying to learn star tools going thru old data and this is my result..after Startools I gave it a level change in GIMP and cropped to help with downsizing...it was probably a little better a few twiddles earlier
This I would like to see how it turns out here and to show what 30 seconds can do.
Not sure about the colour as it is when colour blind but I adjusted colour on the basis of what detail seemed to pop out...

Great job there Alex, the colours are bright but they look good. Better than my feeble attempt with the 4 inch. Looks like you are starting to have fun with Star Tools as you learn more about what it can do. By digging up old data and having a play with them in something new, you can get better results by the looks of things. The good part is, all your hard work out in the field has been done and now you can sit inside in the warmth and work through your data to transform them into wonderful shots such as your Eagle.

Keep it going Alex, you're heading in the right direction and things can only get better!

By the way, you're right about my focus. It was a bit off on the UVIR cut subs but better on the CLS subs. I might invest in a Batinov mask to eliminate the focusing errors.

Thanks Micheal.

Get the mask or make one.

Years ago we used a disk with two holes which is easy to make..say with the four inch two holes about 1.5 cm set about 1 cm from edge..a five cent coin could mark it out.. hold it on with a little blue tack...such a handy piece of stuff......

So you look at a bright star and it appears as two when out of focus and appears as one when in focus... not quiet as good as a Bat mask but far better than eyeballing it.

...get a corn flake box and cut one out and try it.. use your lens cap as a template for the disk and a five cent coin for the holes..a five minute easy job... it will surprise you how effective it is.... and Check if you can drive your camera with sharpcap (free) and try the focuser assist.

AND I wont have you calling your effort a feeble attempt.. it is not a feeble attempt at all so please lets be positive and proud.
