I am offering for sale my astro modified, and deep cooled Canon 450D. This camera was featured in Rowland's thread on DSLR cooling. The camera itself has a new shutter mechanism, and comes with an Orion Canon battery eliminator. The camera has an internal copper cold finger inserted on the back of the sensor, providing cooling to -17C if required, thanks to the 60W TEC cooling element attached to the external side of the cold finger. The cold finger is insultated. A Deep Cool PC Heat Pipe fan unit is attached directly to the hot side of the TEC. The Cold Finger/TEC/ and fan unit is supported by a custom carbon fibre bracket bolted to the camera tripod socket. The camera has an internal temperature sensor mounted on the cold finger near the sensor, which is wired back to the PWM power regulator unit (which is in a separate box which can be mounted on a tripod leg or on your pier). The power and temperature regulator offers setpoint cooling, meaning you can select the temperature for your sensor and it will hold that temperature throughout your session. Both the camera and regulator box are powered by a standard 12V cig plug. The TEC unit draws 6amps at full power so you would need to insure that you have an adequate power supply or battery. The camera/cold finger/fan unit weighs less than 1kg but you could reduce that by installing a smaller heat sink unit if required.
