Jupiter 18/04/05

Finally managed to get around to grabbing Jupiter using the 3x TeleVue Barlow. Not the best shot but a nice first attempt with the Barlow. Saturation was 75%, brightness 50%, 1/33 (I think) shutter, gain up around 50%, 5 fps, 75sec avi..

This is a reduced version (50%) of above:

Very good first attempt with a barlow. It might have been a little underexposed given that you have some onion ringing in the image. Still a good shot and keep it up.

Really nice shot Andrew, great image scale and great detail.. Gain at 50% and still got the onion ringing? Was the transparency bad last night?

Anyway looks like you got the nice seeing, compared to my dud attempt

Yeah, I've been having alot of trouble with overexposing the center core of Jupiter - mainly why I hadn't tried the barlow up until last night...just a matter of finding a middle ground now Transparency was average, fair bit of turbulance, slight ground breeze - the stars were twinkling quiet a bit.... Going by the location of GRS looks like it was a little earlier in the evening then Ice's attempts

Here's another avi from the same time, cloud detail stands out a bit more but is a little more grainy..
