price check and help choosing please

hi everyone,just to ask .
my brother passed away recently and i was left his hobby equipment namely astronomy.Now i am planning to keep one telescope and sell the other two but as i will be a newbie i don't want to bite off more than i can chew.i will probably only be looking at planets for now.
so i need help please .the items are

1-celestron C4-R refractor and

2-meade LXD55-AR5 refractor.


3-Celestron C6 R-GT refractor (still brand new as i was informed)

can anyone tell me the difference and also which one i should keep as well as what price i can expect to get for each one and where to advertise thanks.

CR-4 like this one? I have this scope and it is a great starter scope for a refractor with good compromise between price and quality. The mount is actually not a bad mount if tweeked a bit and telescope's chromatic aberation (blue fringing colour notorious with achromatic refractors) in not too bad compared to other 4" scopes.


C6-R like this? I've used one identical under a different name and found the scope just a bit overweight for the mount (but then I was looking at it from a photography perspective). Visually it was fine. I found more chromatic aberation compared to the above 4". It is also considerably heavier. I much more prefered the 4" even though the 6" has a larger objective.


The LX55 AR5 is now superceded by the LXD75 AR5
I've never used one but I would imagine it would be very similar to the 4 and 6 inch refractors.

Not sure what prices you should be asking, but I believe they are overpriced new as it is. Recently a 6" Skywatcher went for $650

Hi Doobs...I'm sorry for your loss.
I would keep the Celestron C6 R-GT Refractor..in years to come it would prove a very capable scope for deep sky objects..for chromaric aberation a minus-violet eyepiece filter would help.

I to would keep the C6 . As for your loss look though that C6 and i sure there is a star up there with your brothers name on it. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'd keep the largest refractor, the C6. not sure about prices. You could probably just stick them on ebay for a low starting bid. Just make sure the Meade and Celestron stickers are clearly visible on the photos and you'll probably get plenty of interest.
