Comet McNaught from Perth.

Managed to get to the coast tonight (late) after dropping the wife off at work.
But got a few images that i (as a total novice) am quite proud of.
Not sure how they will look on here, but they look ok on my laptop.
80ED and Canon 300D, no post processing, just resizing and converting to jpegs.
Thanks for looking..........
Tony...........

Comet from Leighton Beach Fremantle 17th

First time using the 350D on the new 10" Dob. Think I had some settings wrong in all the excitement. Plus all the people looking through my finder scope which I turned to face the other side of the scope But they all enjoyed the experience. Looked quite good thru the small finder scope.
First taken early in its visibility and the other as it bit the dust on the horizon which had a low bank of cloud. Anyway guess they are not too bad for first attempts.

Good ones Tony. I got some shots of that cloud also

It's been sensational viewing the last 2 nights from up on the hill at Fremantle's Monument Hill War Memorial. Unobstructed views to the western horizon on the Indian Ocean (or more accurately, the line of pollution murk along the horizon), and only a little low cloud to interfere with nature's light show.

Crowds of eager viewers (several hundred on Wednesday), some with picnic teas on the grass, including locals, tourists, kids and dogs, all gathered in a warm, friendly, festive atmosphere. An early Australia Day celebration, but without the drunks and hooligans.

It's wonderful to see people of all ages so engrossed in a glorious, natural spectacle - all praise to the mighty comet that brings us together!

Michael

Good shots Dave & Tony

We certainly did have some good opportunities there on those few nights. Cloudy tonight I see. Probably still some views of it though.
