One of the Leo trio members - couldn't fit all comfortably in my field of view So it's embarked on a solo career.
From the same dark and windy site as the NGC 5101 I put up yesterday.
41:6:6:6 LRGB 5 min exposures with ASI1600MM-C and RC8 on an EQ6.
Just below the centre of the galaxy is the quasar Wee 51 (yes, great identifier name!). At a redshift of 2.15 this is about 10.6 billion light years (light travel time) distant. Talk about depth of focus!
Ha! I am right now just planning my next imaging session and this was one possible target and I was just checking out the framing After several wide field shots over the last 5 months, I am keen to do something close up again with the 12" F3.8 Newt We have almost the same FOV actually, so this was a nice visualisation Paul, thanks, Oh and excellent image ...and again, although not as much, maybe some more blue

Thanks Mike. Looking forward to seeing your shot.

We must have missed this one. It's lovely. Gentle, careful processing. Good detail in the dust lanes. Beautiful dark background with some tiny distant galaxies. Well done.

Thank You Mike and Trish. I was intrigued by the background quasar I mentioned (Wee 51) at a quite substantial distance!
