Some news about the FSQ-106ED

Here some news about the FSQ-106ED:

- Takahashi claims a 30% reduction for chromatic aberrations compared to the
Fluorite FSQ-106

- The focuser has changed quite a bit,
* first of all it has a 1:7 reduction (not 1:10 as claimed earlier, apparently
they had some trouble with that) (IMG-1)
* a rail on the top of the draw tube to eliminate shifting (IMG-2)
* it also has a new rotating mechanism as it seems, the whole focuser
rotates (IMG-3), however I am not sure on that one

- And back-focus has increased so you can use any standard 2" diagonals now

Maybe I should start saving...

I guess the FSQ-106ED will cost somewhere between AU$6K and AU$8K depending on what will be included (finder scope, tube ring etc.) But that is only my guess.

When I enquired, Claude from Astronomy Electronics Centre in S.A told me they're around AU $7100-$7500 (at current Exchange rates) but best to check with him.

They're a beautiful unit indeed and highly sought after.

She looks like a real beauty.

Just too short a focal length for me.
