Postcard from Kabini Wildlife sanctuary, India

Just before Christmas my family and I spent a dayand a nght at Kabini Wildlife sanctuary about a couple of hours south of Mysore, India

http://www.junglelodges.com/resort_o...?resort=Kabini

It was quite memorable experience, topped off by a tiger sighting..unfortunately this has become quite rare these days so one has to be extremely fortunate to sight one of the 60 odd tigers that live in this wildlife sanctuary spread over thousands of hectares

Here are a few pictures

(well I would have posted them but I cant !! )

Looks like another fabulous place I would like to travel to. I'm envious. There's nothing quite like that feeling of being in a natural alien environment. One thing I always want to know though regarding warm climate destinations - how bad are the insects?

Ok though we saw the tiger pug marks earlier, it was a real surprise to come across a real live tiger in the wild, sort of sitting by the side of the road, minding his own business..he saw our 4 WD and darted into the jungle ... too quick for me to grab a picture..but if you strain maybe you can just make out some stripes????

have to say even in the full res-6 mega pixel image -this was with my canon 300D-its still hard to tell if he's still in the image or not and we have had endless arguments in the family about this ever since

He actually stood there and watched us for a while and then soundlessly --melted away and there was nothing

The camouflage is so perfect that you could quite literally be metres away and not know a tiger was there

anyway a visual sighting was great..not many folk are lucky enough

I see the tiger - about an inch or so left of the centre of the photo?
