Is my old C5 OTA a keeper?

I have the OTA (white) from a Celestron C5 telescope, dating from well over 20 years ago. It is in pristone condition.

How does it compare with the latest 5" SCTs in quality, coatings, etc.

How is it mounted, on a single arm or on a fork?

David is saying it’s only the OTA, no Mount.

Mirror coatings might be getting a bit oxidised (blue-grey) but otherwise should be fine. FWIW it is possible to have SCT optics recoated for rather less than a new OTA.

These were actually very good scopes , as said if the coatings are ok at 1250mm F/L you will get great views of the moon and planets out of it and even if they are a bit sad it will still perform well as Celestron make good scopes on average . .
As always with SCT's make sure it is well collimated and it will perform .

Easily mounted on the EQ3 style mount .

Photo's ? please .

Brian.
