Tax FSQ 106 and WO 132 Flt

Hi All

Other than price, and they are both pretty hefty. what would be a good choice, or would they be both pretty much the same.

Either one would be used for imaging mainly, and either one will be mounted on a Losmany G11.

So to all you good people out there, what would you choose The Tak FSQ 106 (when it comes back into production) or the Williams Optics 132 Fluorite Triplet.

Cheers leon

Hard to pass up on the extra aperture! The 106mm will leave you wanting I reckon. You say you mainly want it for imaging, but I bet you will love using it for observing too. And the 132mm will be magnificent for that on stars and planets.

The 106 is a imaging scope and perfect for large format cameras like what you have, I'm not convinced with the WO132 even though I was also looking at this scope as well.

You will also have to get a Focal reducer and the field flatner adding $1000 to the cost, you wont need any of these for the Tak 106.

Tak has the better resale value another positive point.
WO132 is good value for the aperture.
Tak will provide sharper images due to it's better lense's.
WO132 are available now where there could be along wait for the Tak.

Your call.

Maybe. In the past I have either donated some of it to Mike as "funds to help" or sold items (normally smaller than this though!!!) and given the takings to IIS. The forum is a good one, with everyone knowing everyone, and it is ceratinly good to be able to trade here.

The only common thing between these two scopes is that they're both refractors. Thats where it ends. The optical design is totally different between the two. A more appropriate comparison would be the TV NP101 and the FSQ. Both use a Petzval design.
