Exclamation Beware: Wording in Ebay!

Here is an ad on ebay that doesn't sound like your usual rip-off. It is quite a good scope.

BUT! At a quick read the unwary person will believe that they can take photos like the one shown claimed to be taken with the same scope.

Of course the unwary person will not know that the mount will also need motorised tracking, a fairly expensive camera, camera attachment for the scope, etc. I also find it hard to believe this quality can be acheived with this scope on those particular aluminiun legs. It is a pretty damn good photo for such a basic scope.

The scope may be a good buy, but I still think the photo part is a bit misleading.

Just my view.

Yes Ken it is misleading, but you notice they don't say which mount was used to take the shot only that the scope was used , proberbly used a G11 Losmandy or something like it. :-))
my guess is that was also taken with a CCD, theres no real depth of field like you get with film, so maybe 30secs an image stacked to 30mins.

David.

There is zero chance that image was taken with that scope.

David, What do you mean by "depth of field"? I am still partial to film, and I don't think digital can compete when it comes to image quality.

Janos, I still use film and will continue to do so till I can't buy it anymore.
I agree that film gives better image quality.
Depth of field is very noticable when you compere the same object taken with film at say F10 and a digital image ,the film image will look almost 3D, the digital looks flat even with very expensive CCD's.This will change once the larger size chips get cheaper, it would be nice to have a 35mm size chip that I could use at F10 then you would start to get a better depth of field with digital.
A camera with a chip that size would cost you a morgage on your house :-((
Film is harder to get processed, you have to find a competent processor who can do astro shots, these people are hard to find in this day of one hour photo's.
CCD has its place, I like my DSI it allows me to get some images from home that I otherwise would have to wait months to get using film, you wait a month for a dark weekend than the clouds come in :-))

David.
