lunar stacking in MaxDSLR

Hi folks
Could anyone give me a quick guide to registering and stacking lunar images in MaxDSLR. The help menu tells you about it but does'nt tell you how to do it.

Regards
Carl

Carl,
Use the Align and Combine image function. Then select Planetary from the Align mode. I would like to point out that this is a very basic stacking function. In fact Maxim does not even scale or rotate the images when using the Planetary mode. It uses the object centroid to compute the alignment. This generally works best with star fields instead of planets.

There are few ways you can integrate Maxim into your planetary processing. You may wish to use Registax to perform the initial align and combine, then split the RGB channels and save them as individual files. Load them into Maxim for additional DDP and final align and combine. Alternatively use photoshop.

I would recommend using Registax (in particular v4) as it will allow you to align on multiple points of your image. This will automatically scale and rotate as needed. Registax is sensational for this type of work. On the other hand Maxim has superior deconvolution routines to sharpen you image. It is not often that one tool will do everything well. Use what you have at your disposal.
