New scope coming :P

hi guys,

After abit of tiffing around with hesitation and desperation, i seattled for the Celestron NGT 10" F/5 Newt. Should be arriving end of this week. Every time I let go of newtonians and want to try the cassagrains, i ended up back with newt.. I know it might be an overkill on my EQ6 + ED80 guidescope, just want to give it a shot. hopefully if the weather clears up abit in Melbourne, i see if i can image in it .. back with the colliamation and coma hassles .. guess its a challenge.

Good one Eric. Remember too that if you build a dob base, you can use it in that configuartion as well. I do. Mine spends about 50/50 between the GEM, and dob base.

cheers guys. The scope arrived yesterday morning . well packed in its new packaging. Came also with tube rings, 20mm silver celestron plossl, has a 3" R&P focuser (which is badd as i don't have anything 3"), 1.25" and 2" adapter, 9x50 finderscope, the sky CD and manual. The mirrors were well collimated and the smell of brand new scope is nicee added the ED80 guidescope also .

Looking Good Eric.

I'm not sure with what you have done with the focuser will work.

Let me know how you go with the GoTo setup, it took me a couple of goes to get the hang of it...but I think you will be impressed. I sort of wish some times I had got the 10 rather than an 8....but money was pretty tight at the time.

Eric,

Congrats on the new scope. Just one question, how have they attached the secondary to the holder?

Cheers

Thats the only way i can think of to change the focuser. Maybe there is some sort of 3" to 2" low profile adapter? plus i want to use the 10:1 focuser. the 3" to 2" adapter is way too long for the 350d to come into focus.

here's some pics mounted on the EQ6. Just had enough weights. The clouds came in so i couldn't do any imaging with it last night but the tracking seem pretty good to carry the weight. can't wait to image through it.

hey ving, thats including the camera . if u look closely at the EQ6 pics, the small weight still has room to move down. one problem though... it is the biggest hassle to move the equipment in and out each imaging/observing sesson. the C10NGT + ED80 is quite heavy considering im only 69kg in size. Wish i was strongmanmike sometimes
