First pic

First ever pic through a telescope! . just pointed it at the most obvious target and did a single frame 30secs @ iso3200 with 5D and 80ED. I don't have the thingo to do longer than 30secs but will grab one during the week for the next time.

Found out that focussing was a mugs game, I just took a rough guess by looking at rear lcd screen, next time I think I'll use laptop to check focus before starting.

I'd like to do some mega widefields wiith my camera lenses now I have eq6 working but still waiting on the bits to arrive.

Great first image Gav, well done.

How did the ED80 handle the 5D?

You can even do a few 30 sec frames and stack them in PS using layers until you get the Remote cable release.

Congrats and looking forward to more.

cheers david

andrew - the only thing that concerns me is on the full rez file i can see a significant drop in sharpness at the outer edges of the frame

That is excellent.
Great colour from the ED80 and amazing lack of noise for iso3200!
Now, get stacking!!!!!
Well done.

mmmm I was expecting that on the FF body but it's ok to crop out the outer frame and still end up with a great pic.
It's not as noticeable when using the APC size bodies but the 5D has great low noise characteristics.
