It's hard to follow so many great images of this patch of sky, but here's my attempt at this very popular and photogenic region. Framed this way I find I am always reminded of Michelangelo's 'The Creation of Adam' (the hands mostly).
Just Ha and OIII mapped to red and blue respectively, with a green channel created from an expression containing both. I spent a reasonable amount of time collecting OIII to try bring out the shells around NGC6164/5 as best as possible. Some of the very faint extensions have frighteningly low counts above background.
Hope you enjoy perusing the original size and any feedback would be appreciated as always.
I'm enjoying the dramatic composition here, and 45 hours integration is impressive!
But I find myself longing for a true tricolour Nb which helps with the 3D look
Will you be getting some S2 on this?
Nice job
The fainter extension is showing up quite nicely, what you're achieving with a measly 2.55" telescope is amazing!
Nice and contrasty image, would make a fantastic metallic print

Nice job
Thanks Andy. I do have plans to collect SII, I have two subs so far but decided to delay it for now as there is another region I'd like to work on before it is too late to this year.

Thanks Colin. I've been quite satisfied with this scope, I would like to also get something which gives me a better image scale though and has a lower f ratio. Yet to delve into printing although it is something I would like to try some day.
A superb image. I particularly like the clever framing it really is much nicer than the usual straight up and down orientation. Its that interesting twisty area in full view plus NGC6164.
I like the composition too and good to see so much of the Oiii shell around NGC6164/6165.
Cheers,
Rick.
Thanks Rick. The effort was very much inspired by your benchmark rendition of the shell.

Thanks M&T. It is a strange object and certainly makes the frame very interesting.

Thanks for the kind words, Marcus. Consider this step 2 of 3!

Greg.
Thanks Greg. I'm glad I spent the time framing it this way last year as it was ready to add data to this year without feeling compelled to make any adjustments.
