What to do with two mounts

After getting back from the Snake Valley camp and having to reassemble and realign my mount. I decided I needed a permanent and a transportable mount. So I bought a well looked after and modified EQ6 only because it already had motors with belts conversion and the Bartels system. Resistance was futile!

The plan is to mount the EQ6 on a new pier and use the EQ6 tripod as a transportable mount for the HEQ5. The HEQ5 pedestal is a real pain to assemble by one person. The added advantage is I can have the HEQ5 set up at a dark sky site for extended periods and still have a mount at home.

What do all you folks with an EQ6 recommend for the size of the pier?

Is there such a thing as an off the shelf adapter to fit the HEQ5 onto the EQ6 tripod?

Anything else positive you can recommend I do?

Thanks in advance.

Bert
