Istar 127mm 5" f12 R30 refractor

made by Andy, terrific 5" f12 R30 Istar lens & wooden build, we are changing things at home & i won't be able to store it

i used it a lot for public events [like stargazing live at fed square], sidewalk astronomy & school events; its the scope people are drawn too, much more than big reflectors

i already have a buyer from the US for the lens, so it will be just up for 5 days. comes with 50mm finder & WO crayford

$750, the lens alone costs $800 US at present with a fair lead time on delivery

if you have a 5" f9 lens [eg surplus shed] & am interested in the tube/focuser/mount pm me & can sort something out; you will get it very cheap as US lens buyer is covering most of cost

I can deliver to most parts of VIC for fuel & have family in wagga -canberra prob isn't out of question

I hope Daniel doesn't mind me posting here. This telescope was made by me and I sold it to Daniel only because I have other similar scopes. I am really chuffed to see that Daniel has used it for outreach and public viewing.

This a fun and easy to use telescope well suited to casual backyard stargazing. The lens is very well made and gives fantastic views. I am happy to be contacted by the next owner if there are any questions I can help with. Just send me a PM and I will do my best to assist.

Here is a thread from cloudy Nights forum describing the construction step by step;
