Telescope/astro gear lost & found

In the recent light of the stolen scope and a suggestion in the same thread...

Might it be a good idea to have a lost & found section in the equipment forums?

I'm on a mission to recover some club equipment myself, including two dobsonian scopes, and some eyepiece kit. Some people are suggesting these were stolen but I think they were more likely forgotten in someone's garage. I have been able to recover a number of equipment just by putting a notice on the club's page, so I guess the key is to cast the net as wide and hope someone can help or come forward.

Of course, like with most lost & found departments, the posts won't actually be of items found, so no random person can just claim something as theirs. So if you'd found something, just a general post, "hey I found an eyepiece kit, PM if you lost yours with a description".

We attend star parties, gatherings, borrow/hire scopes, and things can get misplaced in the dark quite easily.

What do mods think?

Meanwhile, label and engrave your equipment!
