Machinist, in Sydney?

Anyone know someone who has a metal lathe and could do a simple turning job to make an aluminium plug to fit a tripod ? Happy to negotiate a price for this, too.

Hello Wavy,

Simple it may be to you however; so many people do not realise what is involved in making something like this.

Don't be surprised to recieve "ludicrous" quotes to make it.

I'll ask my son what he reckons.

$130 - $150 depending on time and including material. If you get it for $100 your doing well unless it is someone who is a hobbyist.

See how you go.

Cheers,

Bart.

Simple indeed - I'm an engineer and have done my time on a lathe with the tools needed to do this. But I don't have access anymore. Could make it in under 1h, as could any half decent machinist, and that's being generous.

Agree with your estimate, by the way.

I can highly recommend a shop in Brookvale:

Flame Lily
Address: 24 Chard Rd, Brookvale NSW 2100

Phone: (02) 9938 4885

Tends to get busy at times but the work is very high quality!

Peter
