My first Mosaic effort - Horsehead and Flame

Hi all, I started collecting data on this in November 2016 and finished about the 9th of April. That just shows you how much cloudy weather Brisbane has had lately. Anyway I probably got about 20hrs of data for each panel and used about 14hrs of the best stuff. The seeing some nights was not too flash.

It took me sometime to process this in Pixinsight (with some finishing work in Photoshop) I had my usual share of frustrations and I am sure there are problems I didn't solve or notice. Thanks to RickS for his tips and encouragement on my PI journey. I should also mention the Light Vortex astronomy website as my main online PI resource. Excellent tutorials.

Constructive comments welcome. The flickr link is a better version to look at than the one loaded on IIS.

Happy Easter to all.
Brett

Mosaics are a lot of fun I have to say.

A marathon effort deserves applause and this image is A1 and shows the time and energy spent. Well done on a beautiful image of a most famous nebula.

A superb Horsehead widefield. Love the colour you got on the Flame Nebula.

Thanks to all for kind comments. It is satisfying to get a decent image out given the scarcity of clear weather. I drizzled this image as well, while it seems to give good results the bigger file size does slow the processing down a bit. If you wanted to do a print or something though it is worth it. I am working on my second mosaic now. Look out for it in 6 months!

Yeah, a great shot Brett, nice contrasty colour and I like it when this area is framed with the Ha ridge at a steeper angle. Good return on a sizable investment

Yes agree about the angle, the diagonal adds a dynamic element and the horsehead also looks better leaned back like that I reckon.
