Wow Ben, they're terrific !

The first two are very sharp indeed and the third has great perspective.
Were they done with a 200mm prime and 17-40mm zoom?

They were shot with a 70-200f2.8IS and the 17-40. I was going to get out the 135f2.0 but didn't get around to it. I was also using a 24-105IS on the outside of the corners.

I was asked to photograph some riders that one of the sponsors supports (mainly in the womens race) in exchange for entry into their VIP tent. As I was going to be taking photos anyway I was happy get some free drink and food

It's just a hobby, I'm a chemical engineer.

I am a cyclist and should have been racing in the elite race but there is always a trade off between racing and getting the opportunity to take some photos. It is much easier to be standing on the sideline anyway.

All depends on what kinda of lens I want to try out next. I'd actually like to get a nice lighting setup but may have to sell a few lenses to afford that

There's a nice new cheap lens that Canon have brought out that might suit:
EF 50 f1.2 L
