Earth tremor in Taree 9:27pm tonight

Reports on a radio talkback show "Graham Gilbert - Talk Tonight", that at 9:27pm an earth tremor hit the Taree NSW area, enough to rattle windows, noticable. Felt at Wingham and Forster areas too.
An aftershock felt just a few mins ago....
Scott

I can't find anything on the net News sites yet, but then again, it only just happened. Probably writing the first stories of it now.

Update:
A Seismologist has just been interviewed and he says nothing has been detected on the official Australian seismic network, he says it is NOT an Earthquake, but gee its been felt across a large area.

Hi Ken, The entire east coast was formed from a volcanic island chain so you never know.
there no such thing as an extinct volcano, some just sleep longer then others.

cheers

If an artesian bore has cracked open, the sulphur smell could come from there.

This happened at Taree in December 2004. Was it a repeat performance.

For more info visit Andre's site:

He also runs the NOAA site which I think is very handy:

Not sure who the seismologist was, but as you can see Andre's project picked it up.
Quote from an email I received from Andre
"You might be interested in a little personal project I am currently developing.
At http://www.map.id.au/seismic/ you will find the output for a *very* sensitive real-time seismograph located at my house. If any tremor makes the news in the Asian or Pacific region, you will most likely see the effects at this website.
My guess is it'll take another week or two to knock the bugs out of the system, but essentially this instrument is a goer now."

Geee, all this fuss over a lil tremor. I dont think you'll find to many protentual
volcanos on the Aussie east coast these days, I suspect they broke with
New Zealand a couple of hundred million years ago. Now if you really want to
shake rattle an roll, try living in NZ for a couple of years : )

regards,CS

Rob

Nope, sorry Ian. Didn't feel this one coming. Bit small though.
