Playing astrophotographer and 400d

Hi all,

We went to Hazeldean a few weeks ago (the first time to a camp other than Astrofest in years) and played with the 400d with some wide shots. I found it pretty hard to get focus, and I put it mostly down to having only the "kit" lenses. However I finally got close to focus with trial and error and snapped Orion, part Taurus and part Canis Major and was about 3 seconds into a 30" shot when a 2nd or 3rd mag meteor came between Orion and Taurus. Apperature needs to be shut more and one day I will learn how to do that.

f 3.5
30" on tripod
800 iso
no dark
no flat (so much to learn, no life to do it )

The photo of the clouds have the same detail, except 1600 iso.

Hello Tony and great start! there is a steep learning curve in image acquisition and processing but If you don't skip the basics you'll find that your skill levels will rapidly increase .
There is no magic to this art at all Tony and is open to all If you are willing to put the effort in.

Keep up the good work and If you need any processing help just let me know and I would be more than happy to guide you through.
