M78

M78 image was my first light with the new CCD from ASV dark sky site. My focus curves were somewhat off causing softer than usual focus. Pick off mirror was also a bit too close to the main chip causing unwanted spike. But overall I was happy with the outcome from STXL16200 + AP155EDF.

Good work, Raki. That's the darkest, most difficult bit! Looks like the scope/camera combination is a winner.

Love the detail you achieved Raki, and a pleasure to meet you and see your gorgeous gear at Heathcote!

Thanks guys, so far I am liking the 1.05 arc/sec imaging scale it produces and can't wait to have a more serious go once I get a second chance from a dark sky.

Best M78 I've seen yet Raki
Lovely rich foreboding gloominess and exquisite detail - well done!
