NGC 362 in Tucana

Think Tucana + globular cluster and the first thing that comes to mind is probably 47 Tuc. However, NGC 362 is another nice glob in Tucana.

This was another one of my November pics taken under less than ideal conditions. For this glob it was poor seeing and scurrying clouds with consequent "guide star faded" messages from Maxim. So I decided to let the scope go unguided for an hour or so while I went back to the Wiruna kitchen for a glass or two (or three) of red and then later picked out the best subs to process. I think it turned out OK.

Mount: AP900
Telescope: PlaneWave 12.5" CDK
Camera: FLI 16803 Proline
Unguided exposures.
Exposure 8 x 100sec each of R, G and B
Processing: Pixinsight
FOV:36' x 36' (cropped from 49' x 49')

..aaaah alcoholic imaging...can't beat it

Nice one Geoff, I usually like to have a squiz at 362 when looking in that region.

All that talk of kitchens and drinking wine makes me wanna be there! great fun

Mike

And a charming little cluster it is indeed.
Worth waiting a couple of glasses of wine for :-)

Nice shot Geoff, it really isn't the largest of clusters. I imaged this a few years ago with a DSLR and Meade 10" F/10... yours is MUCH MUCH better

Very pretty, Geoff, and multitasking on a few glasses of red makes it all the sweeter

The dozen or so red giants came out very nicely.

Thanks Mike. However, I do believe that there is too much blue to accurately reflect the stellar spectral type. But OTOH I like blue.

Nice one Geoff.

I like the colours - this is also one of the GCs I like to take a look at.

Forget about fancy processing - a couple of wines is the best noise reduction you'll ever get .... and wow .. you should hear me sing!!

Tony.

Thanks Tony. Amazing how many people agree that wine and astroimaging go together!

I like the image Geoff.

I too, enjoy 362 visually. Overshadowed by Tuc47 but a wonderful sight in its own right.
