Just M42 for ~8 mins

M42 is just coming into my zone over the eastern trees. Still in the CBD light dome a bit. All @ ISO3200. 10 x 30 sec, 10 x 15 sec, 20 x 6 sec. Stacked in DSS, processed in CS2 with 4 layers to retain Trapezium stars in the 6 sec layer.

Very Nice Brent, esp. for only 8min. Are you planning more time on it? Camera/lens used?

Best

Hi JA,
Possibly not, I need to move onto other targets, M42 is done to death.
Camera was the 1200D through the Lunt 102mm ED f7. It was a quick grab and go image run after an hour or so on NGC 253. Only just cleared my eastern trees after 2300 hrs and it's still within the CBD light dome.
Better shot around March in my western sky, we'll see if we are looking for something to test on. More interested in the Cone Nebula a bit further down but I won't see that properly for another month at least.

You handled the dynamic range well, Brent.

Thanks Rick, 4 layers in CS2. Not sure if its the same or similar as masking but easy enough to do once you figure it out.
