Skywatcher 180 Pro Maksutov SCT adapter

Hi All

I have the Gold version Skywatcher 180 Pro Maksutov and it has a 2 inch adapter fitted on it which is quiet long and on my Evolution mount it impacts with the base. I have seen an adapter on Scopestuff and some other sites to allow the use of the standard SCT Visual back on these, this would help to reduce the space at the back. However there appears to be some variations in these scopes with differing threads etc. Does anyone have the Gold Pro Mak like mine that can advise me on the right adapter.

Also is there an easy way to add wight to the back, the scope is front heavy with 1.25" diagonal at the back. But the factory vixen dovetail is quiet short and does not allow for a slide on weight.

Any advise help appreciated.

Thanks

ok so i took another loom at the scopestuff adapter and looks very much like what i already have. but try as i might i cant unscrew it off the scope. i tried a celesrron visual back and it screwed on but had to screw it past the threads for tight fit. there was no resitiance but there are only a few threads on the scopestuff adapter and visual back has more so need to screw past till the 1.25 inch nose tightens up. still hitting the base so need to move forward more however this will make it more front heavy. Looks like an earlier owner put on the sct adapter or Skywatcher made a design change in The pro mak gold series as well to add sct threads which would explain why its so thightly fixed on.
