Hi Guys, i think the heading is close to being right, anyway has anybody had any experience with one of these units, and are they worth a try on a 12" SCT for moderate length imaging, your comments would be much appreciated
Buy a wedge instead. Too many people had too much trouble with them.
Plus the fact you now need to also maintain a third rotating axis.
Much better to only have one axis running, and only one to correct.
You just cant beat a polar setup. Further, all your other gear sitting on your scope will have field rotation, as they will not rotate as the scope will.
I'd agree with Gama, I haven't seen one favourable comment on field derotators. There's nothing special about a wedge either, they are easily built and you'll save heaps if you can make one yourself.
Gama and Phil, thanks for that, i was just wondering, anyway Phil i do have the wedge ready to fit, probably just like you made it myself, but i thought i would ask the question about the field derotator
