Results and News from Snake Valley Astronomy Camp

Thank You to our Sponsors who helped make our Camp a success:
AS&T Magazine, Roman Camping & SVAA.

The raffles were won by:
Barb (Tamtarn): 'Roman' Thermal Jacket
Barb (Tamtarn): Binoculars
Anthony Baker (SVAA President): 2 Eyepieces
John Holgate: 'Roman' Thermal Jacket
Chris (33south): Binoculars
Peter (Toetoe): AS&T 1 year subscription

The Counterweight Toss:
Travis: Eyepiece, Planisphere, and Astro Calendar.

Congrats all.

There was also a suprise presentation made to me for putting the Snake Valley Camps together. I was presented with a 'Pentax' XW7 Ultrawide Eyepiece!!!!

I would very much like to thank all of you who contributed and were involved in this fantastic gift, and especially a big thank you to Steve (janoskiss) for organising it and presenting it to me. I am honoured. I wasn't embarrased, just sunburnt
I remember someone taking a photo. You'll see it's only sunburn

I put it to good use and was amazed at the image it gives!
As I said to dave47Tuc after seeing 47 Tuc through it: "It feels like I'm out in space, and It's like I've got stars all around my head"
It takes you right into the core of 47Tuc with pinpoint stars!!!!

The best part is that every time I use it I will think of the terrific friends that gave it to me. I'll probably never know how many of you contributed, but I have a fair idea

Once again the ladies from the CFA cooked up a magnificent meal for the Saturday Night Feast and the SVAA members made sure there was enough deserts to make anyone sickly full!
It's good to know that our Camp also raises money for the CFA. The Feast raised around $300 for them

The talks from Dave & Richard were well recieved and the workshops by Bird were great and I learned a few terrific tips and tricks about Registax. Thanks guys. The Mayor of Pyrenees Shire also came and gave us all a run-down on how our submission for Light Pollution Reduction is going.

So many other things happened to make it a great time. Kids swimming, fish being caught in the lake, solar viewing with a Toucam, etc etc.

Thankyou to Darren and other members of the SVAA for your hard work, and to all who came, and I hope you return for future Camps. It is you that truley make it successful.

Congratulations Ken and to all who made your event truly wonderful . I have enjoyed the pictures and the stories behind the camp. Astrocamps are terriffic events, you can get the best and worst of everything and still have fun, and heaps of new friends, like the ones Ken has now he has a XW7

Hi Ken

Excellent, I am glad that all fell into place on the day. We have still so much more to do re the Border Stargaze so I can appreciate the work you put in.

Well done and yes it will have to go on my list of star parties for next year.

Cheers Petra
