Orion with meteorite

Hello,

Sorry for the long absence, I sold my 100mm spottingscope that used to double up as a guidscope. So I had to wait for all my new bits and pieces before i could use my new WO 80mm (Thanks John G).

Still getting used to guiderings etc.

Also moved up to a 2" vis back on the C9.25 which will make a good difference (Thanks again John G!).

Well, last night was a resounding failure on all lvels for me but I managed to get some Orion shots, only to find a meteorite trail in it...
The Heavens conspire against me...or was that a blessing?

Glad you left the meteor in the shot actually, adds some interest. Technical troubles or not this image is still pretty good and worth the effort I'd recon Frank

It's a great image Frank, the fine nebulosity really stands out and the meteor sets it off nicely.

You can tell that with only 4 lights, I was only just passing time until the Horsehead nebula cleared that big tree...
Still, as someone else said before, every second of imaging and every photon counts!

Nice shot Frank....., very sharp and detailed m42 and that meteorite trail adds nicely to it!! I caught one with my horsehead a few weeks back as well.

I also don't mind the meteorite trail. I can understand you wouldn't want it in every M42 shot, but it does create a point of difference.

Which 2" visual back did you get and where from?

Meteors in DSO shots are pearls! looks great...... You'll never catch on on purpose like that, so take advantage of the accidental ones.....

Gary, I remember your shot and was thinking about it when I posted mine.

Lee, funny you should mention that...come to think of it...maybe I shouldnt have discarded all those images with the supernova... and the ones with the UFOs...

That looks so silky smooth, and as the others have said, the meteor makes a wonderful addition to the image.
