Dose Anyone Know of an Observatory near Cowra NSW

Hi Guys ,

We are currently traveling through NSW and are camped up near Cowra.

Yesterday we went fro a drive toward Wynangala Dam, about 40 kilometers from Cowra and can a cross an observatory set uo along the way.

I stopped to investigate and being daylight of coarse nothing was going on.
Apparently according to the sign out the front this Observatory is open each night from 7pm to late weather permitting.

It houses a 500mm, 400mm, 300mm, and a couple of 200mm Reflectors, for public use.

Just wondering if anyone knows of this place and who might own it.

Darby's Falls Observatory - it's run by Mark Monk.

Hi Leon,

Yes it is Darby's Falls observatory. I now live about 35km north from Cowra at a locality called Billimari (not far from Canowindra). In the process right now of erecting a large shed with the ultimate aim of opening a small scale public observatory myself. I'm about 75km from Mark -- just far enough that I won't interfere with his trade.
