Use it or lose it.

Over the past 12 mths I have hardly been home (the old place).
Maybe two times.
Sadly my very nice panelled roll along observatory has been attacked and trashed by termites.
Because I had not been using it, it is a lined garden shed on wheels, the little devils took advantage and not one panel has been left untouched.
Luckly I had removed the mount, scope and associated gear as probably rats would have damaged them as well.
I had hoped to move the unit to the new place but it is just too depressing.
So its an I'll wind that blows no good I am thinking maybe a fibre (inedible) glass dome.
Or maybe I should give away imaging.
Alex

No! Don't give away imaging. Why not just remove all the lining - i am assuming it is a metal garden shed. There are plenty of non-edible panels available if you must have lining.
When i moved into my place here at Lake Mac i found the big shed had been attacked in the past by termites ( the owner had it locked when i did my inspection so i did not see it).
The idiot had built a workbench and cupboards out of nice juicy untreated pine - how could the critters resist? They had eaten their way through it all but luckily the shed was hardwood framed and they don't like that. There was a bit of scaring on the frame but the structure was sound. Cladding was hardiplank and they won't eat that either. I ripped out all the old untreated pine and everything has been fine since then ( five years now). So save it if you can, its cheaper than the alternatives.

The last time I posted any images here would be maybe eight years ago.
I gave up posting them cause everyone always said there was too much green maybe not here but on another forum.
But I am colour blind so I do it for my enjoyment...its like playing the guitar I just like to do it without seeking an audience.
Besides my images are nothing compared to what others do.
I thought you would at least recall the wide fields I used to do Ron they were pretty long exposures back then...around an hour.
Also my internet is only via phone these days.
I image only with a 6 inch reflector, sometimes a 12 inch and use an unguided eq6 that I have worked up over the years.
I still manually guide makes me feel I am doing something.

Nothing flash Paul as I mentioned to Ron it is unguided or manually guided.
And only a
Unmodded canon 12 meg.
But when I started we used to mod web cams etc.
I decided not to get deeper as it was becoming too much like work and as I said I do it for me not to show off to others how crook I am.
Also I lost much of my stuff when I lost a computer and that left me a bit funny about photos generally.

Thanks for sharing Alex. I totally agree - do what you want for your own private reasons. Your own happiness is all that matters mate.

The problem with my legs has me being a little negative but just goto get it together.
The security where the next set up is going to go is such that I could just throw a tarp over things...

Hey Alex, I am getting a bit longer in the tooth and I don't follow the imagers much anymore, things just don't look real anymore.
Blue Poles comes to mind with a lot of today's astrophoto's
Just lots of colour and no definition of what it is.?
8 years is a long time since your last pic published so one can be forgiven for not remembering them.
All the best
Ron
