As a macular degeneration sufferer i can attest it sucks. Yes there are supplements like the AREDS2 formulation in Macro-Vision Plus, but it is not a cure, simply slows down progression so they claim. Everyone should download the Amsler Grid Test to see if your affected.

Thanks for the article Dunk,
Timely, as last week I was referred to an eye specialist, who confirmed my early onset macular degeneration.
Symptoms may include decreased night vision, poor colour sensitivity, inability to discern detail.
As Glen has said, no cure just eat specific things, to slow the onset.
Or take a supplement like Macutec (only available by direct ordering).

I can't see any point in any further equipment upgrades now. (sad pun intended)

That is awful Allan, is it both eyes? If you have one 'better' eye you can stretch your visual years . There is always imaging, or video astronomy. As you know it is what pushed me to imaging.

Sorry to hear that Allan, but Glen beat me to it...video astronomy is on the cusp of greatness, especially with a scope like yours...don't ditch it just yet

Pretty interesting article though...the longer you can stave it off the better chance of therapeutic fixing being developed

Thanks Glen & Dunk,
Only the onset he said.
But no timescale.
Mainly manifesting in one eye, for now, luckily I only need one eye for a telescope, but he has given me one of those Amsler Grids to monitor it myself. Amazing how that shows up areas of weakness.
Who knew!

For now, Spinach is my friend. and it is growing in our vege garden.
