Raspberry Pi Package Question

Hi all,

I've had a Pi 2 for some time but haven't done anything much with it until now. Apparently earlier this year the Pi store shut down and there's barely anything on the store website now, which used to be the repository for apps and downloads. In addition, if I try to install any known app using "sudo apt-get install" it returns a stack of 404 errors, eg. "Err http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian/wheezy/main iceweasel armhf 10.2.12esr-1 404 Not Found".

I've tried this with other apps...Stellarium, for example, with similar results. Short of loading an alternative distro, how can I find and download apps easily.

Cheers,

Did you do
sudo apt-get update
first? Sounds like your package list is out of date.
