Siebert eyepieces...

Hi all, my first post on this forum very new to astro but def bitten and smitten. I have a 79-80 Orange Tube C8 that was gifted to me and after a few early ignorant wasteful eyepiece purchases I've decided to invest carefully and wisely. Barely missed out on both the 1.25 T1Nagler and Radian in the classifieds, damnit.. and the new TVs are just outa my price range unless I dont eat much. I am committed to 2" with a William Optics Dura Roto diag looking for widest brightest cleanest view poss given my setup limitations.I live in low light country SA and I'm not in particular hurry as I'm restoring the OTA at the moment Optics are in very good shape so I'm wondering if anyone has some pro and con advice /alternatives regarding the Siebert Ultra series particularly the 13mm and 2x2 Telecentric Barlow as a combo for planet and DSO, they are available locally overnight and 2 thirds of TVs etc so I'm tempted to pull the trigger, chrz Dbowie....

I've never used or owned any Siebert gear but I've considered ordering from them a number of times. In each case when I started Googling a particular product I came away with the sense that it was good but not great.

Since you're not in a hurry why not post a wanted ad or two here on IIS for something top notch like Tele Vue or Pentax. Or for less money go with Explore scientific - they are very good value.

Their Barlow are very good, I've ha the 19 & they were pretty god, er I thought was slightly less than stated, slight bit of contrast less than top ep's, blk were just not as bulk as the best ep's. I did use in binoviewer with shortish f'l scope
With your long focal length scope you can get away with budget wide ep's, most should work fine

The Telecentric Barlows seem well received same concept as the Powermate AFAIK and yes I've considered the cheaper wides but If I buy another faster Scope Im kinda back where I started. Obviously Televue and Pentax are the benchmark but there seems to be no real definitive recent review of these EPs that I've found, someones obviously buying them. As with nearly all EPs even after all the tech maths is done some absolutely love em others pick them to death, Ill ponder a might longer, thnx for replies, Dbowie....

Thnx for reply dannat, so in your opinion the Siebert pieces you have even tho seemingly overstated were worth buying given their sometime comparison to "top eyepieces"? At 90 views to this thread and only one review of product I'm assuming that they're either not widely known or used or simply overlooked. I will admit that the Siebert website is definitely strange to navigate bordering on amateurish ( no disrespect Harry) and none of his products have slick anodising or catchy laser graphics but he backs up his tech claims with a guarantee and also makes and supplies to observatories, he must have a reasonable idea how to assemble glass and ally. By the way I have no alliance with Siebert or his distributors. Make no mistake I would love to buy a full range of applicable high end eyepieces and I def will when I can for the experience but if I can get close for 2/3 rds the price minus the bling landed on my doorstep it's definately appealing. Not sure of his full stock but Matthew Lovell in Adelaide has Siebert in stock and these are the quoted prices minus freight...

Bling?

So WO gear turned up tday, just paid for ES 18 and 8.8 82, thnx Richard and TV 9mm T1 Nagler thnx another Richard for breaking his collection for me seen as I missed a T1 the other day. For someone not that concerned with bling I sure tarted the ol girl up. Thats a WO Ferrari badged zoom I bought months ago thats been suffering from a cheap noname diag. The EPs should calm it all down a bit, love the rotolocks build and finish on the WO gear. Pretty sure the WO Durabright Diag shifts light ok as well, clear skies plz, Dbowie...
