Rho Ophiuchi

My first image after about 12 months away from Astronomy.

I am still getting used to using a CCD after using DSLR's most of the time. I have done very few images with it. Better Images but the processing required is intense.

The two Blown out objects are Saturn and Mars. Obviously at 5 Min exposure their is no detail in them.

QHY10 Colour using a 100mm Cannon F2 lens.
22 Subs at 300 Seconds each.
Bias and Dark frames used.

Some nice detail and colours showing up there Charles. How do you attach the Canon lens to the ccd? There seems to be some fringing going on around the brighter stars. Was there some thin high cirrus cloud above during your exposure session or dew on the lens? I suspect the 100mm f2 would not be subject to that much CA.

I bought the adapter on Ebay. Canon EOS to T Thread adatper.

The Blue Fringing around the brighter stars I assumed was CA from the cheaper E series lens. It is quite possibe their was some high thin cloud too. Due was not a problem that night. First time I have used a Canon lens on the CCD.
