Second hand Canon20D or new Canon 350/400D?

Hi everyone,

I am considering buying a Canon for piggyback and prime focus photography and wondering if a second hand 20D might be better than a new 350 or 400D for this purpose.

If you were in my position what would you buy and why?

Look forward to your expert advice.

John K.

I've got a 20D but I think if I were making the choice, I would opt for the 350D or 400D simply because they're significantly lighter.

Thanks for that. Weight is not a huge issue for me. It's the noise levels I am interested in and red sensitivity. Do they use the same sensor?

I am not sure but I think the 400d has the same as the 30d.. but the 400d has auto noise reduction.. if you are going to use the new camera for astro photography any weight reduction can be helpful. 20d is only 8 meg I think and the 400d is 10 meg... the 400d body (and it comes in black like the 20d)can be had for $1250 if you shop around ..maybe cheaper. The red sensativity may require removal of the IR filter... please someone review my comments because I may have may facts wrong.

I'll leave this one here since it pertains to prime/piggyback astro imaging advice.
