Teleskop Service shipping costs?

I've been on the TS website recently looking at small Maks as they had some attractive prices.

One of the things I like about the website is that the web page for every item has a box at the top of the page that says "Shipping cost to you. Click here". This opens a pop-up window where you can select your country and it shows the cost.

For example, whilst looking at a 90mm Mak I selected Australia it showed two amounts, "Post" for 36 Euros and "UPS Express" for 85 Euros. Underneath the table of costs it says "The shipping costs shown above are valid for individual shipment of this specific item."

However, after adding an item to my shopping cart and beginning the checkout process the "Post" option said "Unfortunately it is not possible to dispatch into this country" and forced me to choose the UPS option. I emailed them to check and they confirmed only the more expensive UPS is available. Since this changes the viability of the order for a cheap item I didn't proceed.

I know some people here have ordered from TS and am wondering if you found this as well? Or is there possibly a mistake in the website?

Hi Morton, I have bought many shipments from Tel Exp and have always been able to choose the Deutsche Post option. My last order was only recently.
You could confirm with Rüdiger Maaß or Michael Paur, both have been excellent .

Just did a test order Morton, are you sure that you clicked on the little circle on the left that is in line with the 36 Euro price. The sentence below applies to a different freight method. My test was for a Panther mount and I would have hit Submit if I thought I could survive my wife finding out......

Hi Matt,

I've queried this again with them and they agree it's not right. I've asked for a quote for multiple items so waiting on them getting back to me.

I buy heaps from them and usually DHL handles it. However, when i bought my Bresser 152mm refractor it had to be shipped via UPS because the box length was outside of the dimension limit for DHL. Aus Post has similiar box length restrictions.

Yep that's about right - my purchases always came by DHL as long as the length restriction was not exceeded; much cheaper than UPS for sure - and they are willing also to combine post charges when you order a bunch of stuff.

HTH
Cheers
Bill

Tel Exp always seems to charge 36 Euros for standard shipping to Australia, even for a tiny 10 Euro ring adapter
Not really worth it for cheaper stuff.
