Planet montage, 12th June, 9/9 seeing

SkippySky went for 9/9 seeing over Sydney on 12th June, 3 days after the jetstream gave us literally the worst ever seeing I've experienced, which of course was the day after two JPL scientists came to visit from the 8th . But here's the planets from 12th June, all about 2200 frames, 200mm f/5 Newtonian at f/30, and I think the best seeing I have had all of this excellent planetary season. Cassini project scientist Morgan particularly enjoyed Saturn through the 16" Dob that night, she was very happy indeed .

I have so much data from two excellent nights on 12th and 15th June, and haven't managed to really go through them all. Highlights are afternoon clouds on Olympus Mons (which formed in the 2hrs from the previous frame), my first image that has the Encke Division and Dunk, I'm reasonably happy there's the polar hexagon this time . Probably some more from these two nights to come, but this'll do for now...

Very nice Andy! Having badly failed at the few attempts I have had at planets, I do admire the work you guys do!

Not sure if it is the 1am viewing but is there are a slight colour channel shift on the Jupiter? The detail looks great but to my tired eyes it does appear a bit technicolour in the bands and structure.

Colin, that's entirely plausible, and I'd agree with you on the bright streak under the NEB. I image with a colour sensor and currently not with an ADC (though I have one, just haven't learned how to use it yet ). Quite often the blue channel is more fuzzy than the others, or the channels don't quite align even with the Registax alignment routine. I can't recall if I checked this Jupiter properly (probably not!) - I was probably too happy with the details I had! I've previously done better jobs by splitting the channels pre-stacking then aligning and recombining the separately stacked channels, but I didn't do that for this one as it's a fair bit of work.
