Ngc 6188 HaRGB-2nd attempt

Don't know if this should be a new thread but here goes.
1st attempt at monochrome, not sure if i like it but my skills at processing are limited
Ha 15x10min, R, G, and B 20x5min
Atik 11000m, Baader filters, WO FLT110
SGPro, PHD2, Pixinsight.
Any insights welcome

I will be getting OIII and SII later so i will try a Hubble palette as well

I would be extremely proud of myself if this was my first attempt at mono. Wonderful image George. Love the sharpness and colours, it really brings out some detail, nothing wrong with your processing. Keep up the excellent work.

Thats really good George, a lot of detail, I could never get that amount with a OSC. I'm guessing the Ha channel would be the main contributor to the detail wouldn't it?

Cheers
Bill
PS. I like the 2nd version better.

Thanks Bill, i used the Ha for luminance, i was surprised myself at the increase in the detail over an osc, this being my 1st mono image. I think the increase in time spent is worth it.

Very nice George and a lot better than most's first attempts.

Overall a bit dark and too much red. Try levels set to red channel and play with it and also the colour balance tool and again boost the blue and green mostly in the lower end.

Greg.

I might go back to collecting U.K. Queen Victoria stamps George. I'll keep the 102mm f/5 for an occasional peek.
I didn't realise that you had had a 2nd try; that's great, the only way from there is up.
cheers raymo

Thanks Greg but i am unsure what you mean. when looking at images on the net there is so much variation.
Is this closer to what you mean?

Nice one George,
There appear to be a few different approaches to combining Ha & RGB.
Starizona method- https://starizona.com/acb/ccd/software/ps_hargb.aspx
Marco's method- http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...d.php?t=138473
Pixinsight (ask Rick!)
Personally, I prefer Marco's method, works ok for me anyway!
Cheers
Andy

Looks like the mono is working for you.

Nice job. The tracking looks good. The field is flat. Obviously not too much savannah burning those nights.
