Planetary with a cheap refractor

I wanted to see what my second hand Saxon 4 inch f5 could do on the planets last night. A quick grab and go with a 6mm eyepiece which made the magnification about 83x on the 500mm tube. This is an achromatic so CA was evident but not as bad as I thought it would be. I was able to remove what was noticeable as well as some colour adjustment in Photoshop.
I have an RA motor to keep the object in the frame long enough to take plenty of frames using the movie crop mode on the Canon 550d. Good thing about this rig on the old EQ3 mount is that I can pick the whole thing up with camera attached and carry it around and plonk it down anywhere I like.

Proof is in the pudding. Respectable images for a runabout system. Very handy when access to open skies are restricted. Good work Mickoid.
