Light pollution from the Moon

Just wondering - is the Moon's light pollution only a problem when it's visible in the sky, or is it buggering up the visibility even when, say, it's half-full and below the horizon until midnight?

Does vary with the size and brightness of the moon.
But anything will diminish what you will see to some degree.

As above, it's usually safe if it's 18 degrees or more below the horizon (maybe a bit less if it's partial and you're imaging nearer to the opposite horizon)

Unless you're narrowband imaging of course
